KOREAN AMERICAN IDENTITY
Judy Choi
America is one giant melting pot, which races and ethnicities of all places. I belong to this
melting pot, and my own Korean culture can be expressed in my everyday life besides my outward appearance. However, with the rise of younger generations forgetting aspects of their own familial culture, I want to emphasize the true blending of cultures within America. The term Korean American is what I would identify myself as because I not just American or Korean; I'm somewhere in between. With this photography series, I want to discover various ways to show that I am in this demography, and that for this group of people, there are two sides to our lives that we need to uphold in order to be accepted. I hope to express my own Korean American identity through these photos as I highlight a sort of separate, but equal viewpoint to the two cultures.
